Comparison
Both tools govern how your team builds campaign URLs. They enforce different things. This page explains the difference, with verified pricing and a clear answer to where each one wins.
The short version
UTM.io enforces your template. Trakr validates against channel definitions. A URL that passes UTM.io's template check can still land in GA4's Unassigned channel, because templates and channel rules check different things. Trakr resolves every URL against the channel rules in your workspace configuration, the definitions you mirrored from GA4, and shows the resulting channel before you copy. If your analytics runs on GA4 and Unassigned traffic is your pain, that difference is the whole decision. If you need a built-in link shortener or a Chrome extension, UTM.io has both and Trakr does not.

The real difference
Every governance tool in this category makes a promise: your team stops producing broken campaign URLs. The question is what "broken" means.
For UTM.io, broken means a URL that violates your template: a missing field, a value outside the dropdown, a naming convention ignored. That is real governance and it works. But GA4 does not read your template. GA4 assigns every session to a channel using its channel group rules, which key on specific source and medium values. A URL can follow your template perfectly and still carry a medium GA4 does not recognize. The campaign runs, the traffic arrives, and the report says Unassigned.
Trakr starts from the channel rules. You pick a channel, Trakr sets source and medium to values your channel definitions read, and before you copy the URL it shows which channel the URL resolves to under those rules. Green badge, the channel you intended. Amber badge, fix it before it leaves the tool. The prediction follows your workspace's channel configuration: it mirrors GA4's definitions, and keeping it in sync when you customize either side stays in your hands. The check happens where the mistake happens, at URL creation.
UTM.io prices by tier: Plus at 19 USD, Professional at 69 USD, Business at 159 USD per month, with annual discounts. The tiers meter templates (5, 10, 30) and hold API access until Professional. Trakr Pro is 29 EUR per month, or 290 EUR per year, and the plan is the plan: full builder, shared configurations, complete history, full API, MCP connector. Nothing is metered by template count.
For agencies the workspace math decides. UTM.io includes one workspace up to and including Professional, two on Business, three on Enterprise. Trakr includes the first workspace and prices each additional one at 29 EUR per month, so three client workspaces cost 87 EUR per month. Each workspace brings 5 pooled team seats (15 total in that setup), and additional seats are 10 EUR per month. If you run many small clients, compare these two curves before anything else.
Both products have an API. UTM.io's starts on the Professional tier. Trakr's full API, read and write, ships in every Pro plan, and it is joined by a native MCP connector: Claude and other MCP-capable assistants can list, create, and manage campaign URLs inside your governed configuration. As of 2026-07-17, no other tool in this comparison ships a native MCP server. If your team automates link creation from server-side tagging, scripts, or AI workflows, this is the widest gap in the table.
UTM.io is a mature product with strong public ratings and enterprise logos on the homepage. It ships a Chrome extension for building links in place, branded link shortening, and QR codes. Trakr matches the QR codes (per link, and per batch as a ZIP) but ships no extension and no shortener today. If short links are part of your workflow right now, you will either keep a shortener alongside Trakr or stay with UTM.io.
Pick UTM.io if you need link shortening in the same tool, you live in the Chrome extension workflow, or your governance philosophy is template-first and GA4 is one of several analytics targets.
Pick Trakr if GA4 is your reporting truth and Unassigned traffic is costing you reporting confidence, if you are an agency where per-workspace pricing beats tier ladders, or if you want API and AI-assistant access without stepping up a pricing tier.
There is no automated importer, and this page will not pretend otherwise. You rebuild your naming convention once in Trakr's setup wizard: which fields form each UTM parameter, in what order, with which separators and allowed values. The wizard walks through it step by step, and the effort scales with how many fields and channels your convention carries. The configuration then serves your whole team and your agency. Your existing UTM.io links keep working, because UTM parameters live inside the URLs themselves.
Common questions
For teams whose analytics runs on GA4, yes. Trakr validates every campaign URL against the GA4 channel definitions mirrored in your workspace configuration before you copy it, which is the check UTM.io does not perform. If you need a built-in link shortener or a Chrome extension workflow, UTM.io serves those needs and Trakr does not.
No. UTM.io enforces your templates: required fields, naming conventions, dropdown values. A URL can follow your template perfectly and still land in Unassigned, because GA4 assigns channels from its own channel group rules, not from your template. Trakr validates against the channel rules in your workspace configuration, which mirror GA4's definitions and stay in your control, and shows the resulting channel before you copy the URL. Verified against UTM.io's public pages on 2026-07-17.
There is no automated importer. You rebuild your naming convention in Trakr's setup wizard: define which fields form each UTM parameter, their order, separators, and allowed values, then review the channel definitions. The effort scales with the size of your convention, and the configuration is shared with your whole team and agency afterwards. Your historical UTM.io links keep working, since UTM parameters live inside the URLs themselves.
It depends on how many client workspaces and seats you need. UTM.io includes 1 workspace up to its Professional tier at 69 USD per month, 2 on Business at 159 USD, and 3 on Enterprise. Trakr Pro is 29 EUR per month with the first workspace and 5 team seats included; each additional workspace is 29 EUR and adds 5 pooled seats, and extra seats are 10 EUR each. There are no per-template limits on Trakr. An agency running 3 client workspaces pays 87 EUR per month on Trakr, which includes 15 pooled team seats (5 per workspace); additional seats are 10 EUR each. On UTM.io that workspace count requires the Enterprise tier. Pricing verified 2026-07-17, check both pricing pages for current numbers.
Trakr ships a native MCP connector, so Claude and other MCP-capable AI assistants can read and create campaign URLs in your governed configuration directly. As of 2026-07-17, no other campaign URL builder in this comparison ships a native MCP server. UTM.io offers API access starting on its Professional tier; Trakr includes its full API and the MCP connector in every Pro plan.
